TDD and unit testing entered mainstream programming more than a decade ago. They have become so common place now, that I can not imagine creating a new project without writing appropriate unit tests. In my professional work I find I’m spending more and more time considering build environments, continuous integration and streamlining our production deployments. Effectively I am assuming a DevOps role. There is growing interest in the position of DevOps – a crossover between developer and operations positions. There are many tools which help streamline deployments such as MsDeploy, Puppet, Chef and ZooKeeper. I’m now at the point where I wouldn’t start a project without first thinking about the build, deploy and integration tools and environments.
Is Dev-Ops the new TDD?
